Additionally, if you found the manufacturer (GreenPan) doesn’t mention the “cookware is broiler-safe”, never put them under the broiler.
How To Season GreenPan Ceramic Pans?
GreenPan ceramic cooking sets are oven-safe till high temperature, unlike other ceramic pans. That’s why you don’t need to apply low smoke point oils for seasoning.
Here is the procedure-
Step 1:
Rinsed the pans with warm water & clean them properly. Use a soft kitchen towel to soak excessive water from the pans.
If the pan contains burnt food resides, apply low alkaline liquid dish soaps & soft scrubbers; like a sponge pad.
Step 2:
Place the pan on a stovetop & lightly heat it to de-moisturize excessive water molecules. Once you have done this task, apply few drops of canola oil or flaxseed oil.
Smear these oils uniformly & thinly though out the pans you can use cotton buds or a paper towel for this task.
Note:
- Most of the Green Pan ceramic cookware are oven-proof till 600F. That’s why you can use high smoke point oils.
- However, if you are using GreenPan Rio, you need to use low smoke point oils for seasoning.
- Additionally, GreenPan Rio & Hudson users can’t use an oven for heating, they need to go with stovetops.
Step 3:
It’s a time for heating up your pans. If your pan has a metallic handle, go with ovens, otherwise use gas stoves for heating.
Put your GreenPan into the oven set the oven temperature just above the smoke point of the seasoning oil. For canola oil, set ovens at 405F & for canola oil 450F.
Now the oil gets slowly soak on the pan & formed a polymerized layer on it. If you are using a stovetop, fliped the pan periodically.
At an oven, a total of 20 minutes of seasoning time is needed. Once the heating task is completed turn-off the oven, & let the pan cool down its temperature.
Step 4:
Once the pan comes to its surrounding temperature, wipe out the pan with a paper towel. This will soak excessive oils from the pans.
If the pan seems like it becomes greasier rinse the pan with warm water; & liquid soaps (don’t use any scrubber this time).
If you want, then you can repeat the seasoning procedure one or two times. However, if the pan is brand new, one-time seasoning in a month is more than enough.
Do We Need To Seasoned GreenPan Anodized Pans?
The hard anodized pans don’t require seasoning. However, if these pans get scratched on their cooking surface, you need to go for seasoning.
The anodized coating is a natural, non-toxic, non-reactive thin layer of the non-stick coating. This coating appears on aluminum metal through the cold electrolysis process.
Once if these coatings get scratched, the inner aluminum core comes into contact with foods.
Therefore to prevent the mineral leaching problem, either we need to do seasoning, or you can replace the cookware.
The anodized pan seasoning process is quite similar to non-stick pans.
